Artist rendering of 1200 5th Street, NW

The Bike Estate scours local blogs and government websites for information about bike facilities in new, recently opened, or planned residential or commercial buildings. The following is recently-filed development applications with the D.C. Zoning Commission.

The 1200 5th Street, NW project, under the development of Mid-City, will build 363 apartment units and contain a total of 139 bicycle parking spaces.

According to the plan documents, the building is comprised of two sections: one three stories and the other four stories. Located adjacent to the proposed Downtown East protected bike lane, the plan shows bike parking includes 121 long-term parking spaces, or one space for every 3 units. Additionally, the project includes 18 short-term bike spaces. Car parking totals 103 resident spaces.
