Feces being smeared on bike handles across Washington DC. Capital Bikeshare bikes were covered with feces under the handlebars along the U street corridor. This is not the first time this has happened as incidents similar to this were reported on social media last year. Washington Examiner

Lyft to pull scooters from Six US cities. Lyft will end its dockless electric scooter program in Nashville, San Antonio, Columbus, Ohio Atlanta, and the Phoenix area. The company will lay-off 20 people from its bikes and scooters team, which consists of about 400 people. CNN
E-Scooters aren’t as scary as you think. According to recent data, reported deaths and serious injuries from scooters are fairly low. The restrictions and fears surrounding these vehicles appears to be somewhat exaggerated. Outside

The District steps up enforcement against vehicles in bike lanes. Starting this week, the city is adding 26 new parking enforcement officers (PEOs) who will be assigned the to areas that need safety improvements and behavior changes, based on surveillance and 311 complaints. The Department of Public Works (DPW) currently has 272 PEOs who cover 109 locations throughout the city, and each location now will have at least one officer solely dedicated to bike lane enforcement, with special attention to vehicles blocking bike lanes. DDOT’s CurbFlow car parking pilot significantly reduced double parking. DDOT is still evaluating the results, but highlights include that double parking went down 64 percent. This, hopefully, will reduce the incidence of vehicles double parking in bike lanes. Smart Cities Dive
