UPS delivers with electric-assist trike in Portland. The bane of all bicyclists are delivery trucks and vans in bike lanes. This Portland pilot replaces one of two delivery trucks serving a university neighborhood. According to the article, UPS has launched e-bike and e-trike delivery programs in recent years in Pittsburgh, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. As the feds look to enforce helmet use, Cycling advocates want safer streets. The National Transportation Safety Board look at statistics pointing to the most likely cause of death in bike crashes – head injuries. Apparently, without consulting with bike advocates recommended that all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico require everyone to wear a helmet when riding a bike. Go. McClatchy DC
